Remote Education

At Ropsley Church of England Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child can continue to thrive in their learning, even when they need to remain at home. Our Remote Education plan is designed to support families and maintain consistency, enabling pupils to engage with the same high-quality curriculum they would experience in school.

When Does Remote Education Start?

Remote Education will begin the day after parents notify the school that their child(ren) need to isolate.

Our Approach to Remote Education

We aim to teach the same curriculum remotely as we do in school, with thoughtful adaptations to suit home learning. Here's how it works for different year groups:

• Reception
  Your child has a link to MS Teams in their planner. We will use the link ensure that your child receives an online maths and phonics lesson. They can also use the link to join their classmates for the end-of-day story. Other materials will be supplied to you using Class Dojo.

• Year 1 and Year 2
   Your child has a link to MS Teams in their planner. We will use the link ensure that your child receives an online maths and English lesson. They can also use the link to join their classmates for the end-of-day story. Other materials will be supplied to you using Class Dojo. Teachers will provide feedback, and we encourage you to share this with your child to support their progress.

• Years 3, 4, 5, and 6
  Log into MS Teams to view the weekly timetable and access resources. Encourage your child to complete and "hand in" their work on Teams promptly so that teachers can provide constructive feedback. Please help your child review and act on the feedback they receive. Your child can continue to enjoy their class novel by logging in and listening online.

During a 'bubble' or full school closure, live lessons will be provided throughout the day to maintain a structured learning routine.

Supporting Learning at Home

We understand that supporting children’s learning at home can feel challenging, but we’re here to help. Maintaining a familiar, school-like routine can make a big difference.

• Reception, Year 1, and Year 2: Approximately 3 hours of flexible learning per day.
• Years 3 to 6: Around 4 hours per day, following live lessons and structured activities.

For children with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND), your child will continue to receive their support lessons/intervention online.

We understand that isolating at home can be challenging for families and particularly stressful for children who are used to spending time with their friends and staying active. Our pastoral lead will offer online well-being sessions to support our school community during a closure. These sessions are open to all children and provide a safe space to connect, share, and focus on their emotional well-being. We encourage every child to join if they wish, as part of our commitment to supporting their happiness and resilience during this time.
