Year 3/4
Welcome to the Year 3/4 class page!
This year, we have two Year 3/4 classes.
'Mandela Class', named after Nelson Mandela, will be taught by Mrs Wynne and Mrs Harrison. 'Class Teresa', named after Mother Teresa will be taught by Miss Langley.
This term, our topic is Stone Age to Iron Age!
Our Topic display in the main corridor!
Our topic will have both a Geography and History focus. During our History lessons, we will look at how people in the Stone Age lived and what evidence we have to show this. We will use this evidence to build up a picture of how their lives are so different to our own.
Our Science topic is Living Things and their Habitats. The children will observe and record living things in the environment, using a simple classification key to sort living things. We will also look at how environmental change affects living things.
Our Maths unit this first half-term is Multiplication and Division. Children will learn the formal written methods and recall their times table facts with increasing fluency.
English this term is going to be very exciting as the school begins its Talk for Writing journey.
We are following a story map to retell part of Stig of the Dump. Children then retell it with actions.
This is the first paragraph of Stig of the Dump from Teresa Class. Can you follow it?
In RE, we are studying 'Community' looking especially at Islam and the Mosque's central importance in a Muslim community.
PE for both classes will be taught on a Friday. Children will need to arrive at school in their PE kits on a Friday. This term Year 4 will be swimming every Friday whilst Year 3 have gymnastics in school. Both classes also have a slot for Yoga!
